A public lecture by Mgr. Martin Urbanec, Ph.D.

Neutron stars are among the densest objects in the Universe. By observing them, we can test the predictions of nuclear physics under conditions that cannot be reproduced on Earth, even in particle accelerators. How can we observe objects that are more massive than the Sun but have a radius of just ten kilometres? And what role do neutron star collisions play in the formation of chemical elements such as gold and platinum?
